Founder Conductor

Kenneth V. Gibson

To most of us, the name Late Kenneth Gibson is synonymous with TABS, the remarkable inter-denominational choralgroup, created by him fifty plus years ago, as its founder conductor and remained so, like the familiar marriage vow one takes, 'until death us do part'

Kenneth had a clear vision on how to develop his son Zubin’s musical talent as part of ‘succession planning’ to become a Church Organist and TABS conductor. He put him through piano lessons to qualify in Trinity exams, grade after grade. As all of us can now see, Sudhir’s prayers are answered and the mantle has now gracefully fallen on Zubin’s shoulders.

Some of thehis musical ventures:

  • St John’s Pipe organ re-dedication, after its restoration (where TABS performed)
  • A Voice Culture workshop by a resource person from North East
  • A Voice Culture workshop by a resource person from North East
  • Medak Cathedral Pipe organ re-dedication service (where TABS performed)
  • Stainer’s Crucifixion - the Passion Cantata, where Sudhir conducted a twin-city augmented choir (not just TABS alone)at St John’s Church & also St Georges Church
  • These are just to name a few major events

Here are some of his noble and remarkable traits of our Founder Conductor:

  • He was a very soft-spoken and devoted Church musician
  • Patience and Humility are his most noteworthy traits
  • A sincere piano teacher with a noble mission to spread music to those who love
  • If he has held a diverse choral group together over 50 years it speaks volumes of the man wielding the baton
  • As for the dedication of every chorister in TABS, I can only say it was the “Leadership by Example” of their conductor himself, who displayed utmost selfless dedication
  • Yet another mostremarkabletraitof Kenneth(Sudhir) is hisnetworking with allthe twin-city musicians to bringthemon toa commonpodiumduringTABS concerts, irrespective of their church affiliations.
  • he would never get angry with anyone or raise his voice on any given situation and a reounouned Tenor singer.
  • May this glorious tradition, set by Sudhir, continue to grow ‘with a change-over of baton’ and may God bless Zubin to carry on aheadfor years to come, all the good work started by his father, the Late Kenneth V. Gibson, whom God has granted eternal peace.
